Framed Tub & Shower Enclosures |
BN / Clear Lucette Slider |
Framed tub and shower enclosures are
the most common style of enclosure sold; primarily due to their versatility
and price point. Framed enclosures are available in virtually any configuration,
with a wide variety of framing colors
and glass options. If you are dealing
with a small shower unit, this is the type of enclosure we recommend because
the overlapping magnet seals are going to provide the tightest seal against
leaks. |
Silver / Bubble Lucette Door & Sidelite with C-pull |
Framed enclosures are fabricated using aluminum extrusions in a variety of different colors (see the link above). There are higher-end framed enclosures fabricated from brass extrusions. Brass can be polished or plated in a wide variety of different finishes (chrome, nickel, gold, etc) to suit your design needs. Real brass enclosures have a more solid look and feel to them, but are many times more expensive than aluminum enclosures. Real polished brass does not come with a warranty against tarnishing; if you want real brass, be prepared to polish it! |
This picture shows an operating transom for a steam enclosure |
Framed enclosures are a great choice for steam equipped
showers because their overlapping framing helps to retain the maximum
amount of steam. Sliding enclosures are also available for steam applications,
but they are not as efficient. If possible, design your steam unit for
a hinged door enclosure. We recommend that you have your steam enclosure
made with an operating transom ( a small glass panel which remains open
for regular showers and is opened after a steam session- see picture at
left) to allow for air flow. You must design a steam enclosure to allow
for air exchange so as to reduce the likelihood of mold and mildew. |

This is the typical pull that comes with a framed enclosure- it differs slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. This is included in the standard pricing. |

The c-pull is an optional upgrade which many people feel adds a "custom" look to the enclosure. It adds $125+ depending on the glass type and enclosure size. |
